Chris Evert inducts Jane Brown into International Tennis Hall of Fame

"It was an honor to help induct my good friend Jane Brown into the Tennis Hall of Fame today in Newport, RI.. Very deserving, great lady!" Chrissie said after the ceremony, where her good friend Lindsay Davenport was also inducted. You can read the Tennis Magazine article here!

Chris presents Trophy again! at Roland Garros

As if handing out the winner's trophy at the Australian Open earlier this year was not enough, Chris was given the honor again - to hand out the winner's trophy after the final of Roland Garros.

Maria Sharapova was this year's winner. Chris also provided great insight into the tournament all the way up to the final, with her commentary on ESPN.

Not surpirsingly, the 40th Anniversary of Chrissie's first Grand Slam title, which occurred in Paris in 1974 with a win over Russian Olga Morozova, has brought with it a flood of nostalgia.

Chrissie named "Legend Ambassador" for the WTA Championships in Singapore

Chrissie will support the season-long 'Road to Singapore' of the 2014 WTA Tour, beginning with the Australian Open all the way through 54 events and 33 countries to the WTA Championships, which will be held in Asia-Pacific for the first time.

Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic raises $600k to fight drug abuse.

Chrissie had the help of an impressive array of tennis friends & celebrities - including Kevin McKidd, Mats Wilander, Gavin Rossdale, Martina Navratilova, Patrick McEnroe, Maeve Quinlan, Rennae Stubbs, David Cook, Jon Lovitz, Pam Shriver & many others - to raise $600k to fight drug abuse and give aid to families dealing wtih affliction in South Florida.

Chrissie's charity has raised over $21.2 million since it began in 1989.

Next year's event will be held from Nov 21-23, 2014.

Chris Evert speaks about USTA in communities - at National Press Club

Chrissie spoke at the National Press Club Luncheon in Washington DC on May 7 to talk about the effect of USTA programs and services on communities across the country.

"My mom is now 85 and I’m still hitting with her, still proud when she says ‘nice shot,’" said Chrissie, stressing the life-long family bonding and physical wellness that the sport of tennis offers individuals and communities.

Chrissie accepts Fed Cup Replica trophy

Chris accepted a replica trophy in honor of her years on the United States Fed Cup team during this year's Fed Cup World Group tournament in Delray Beach, Florida on April 21.

During her career, Chris played Federation Cup 9 years, and helped the USA to win the Fed Cup an astounding 8 times! She competed in 42 Fed Cup ties over-all, and posted a 57-4 winning record in the competition. The eight winning Fed Cup teams she was part of were: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1989.

Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic Set for November 15-17.

For the 24th year, Chrissie & friends will entertain fans while raising money for her charity, which has already brought in over $20 million to provide scholarships, education, and assistance to at-risk children and families suffering from the effects of drug addiction in Chrissie's home state of Florida.

This year's participants will be announced in the coming months. As always, the Saturday night Gala will feature spectacular cuisine, live & silent auctions, and upper tier musical entertainment.

Chrissie appeared on CSI January 23 at 10pm

Chrissie is appearing in the CBS drama CSI:  Crime Scene Investigation.  The segment was broadcast on Wednesday January 23rd from 10:00 – 11:00 PM ET/PT.  One of the stars of the program is actress Elisabeth Shue who is a regular celebrity participant in annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic.  The January 23rd episode is entitled:  DOUBLE FAULT.

Chris Evert / Raymond James Tennis Charity Weekend Nets $600k

Chrissie's Pro-Celebrity Classic has raised more than $20 million since she began hosting it in 1989, and this year's star-studded weekend brought in an additional $600k to the 23 year grand total.

The money benefits The Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida, a nonprofit group that supports programs for at-risk children and families, including those dealing with drug abuse.

Chrissie Surprises Billie Jean King at Womens Sports Foundation Presentation

During the Annual Salute to Women in Sports 2012, Women Sports Foundation founder Billie Jean King honored in absentia former Senator Birch Bayh with the Billie Jean King Contribution Award, thanking him for fighting for the rights of girls and women across the country to have equal access in school not just in sports, but in the classroom so women could become doctors, lawyers, scientists, educators … and achieve their potential in every way possible. 

Not passing the moment up, tennis great Chris Evert surprised Billie Jean King onstage, commending her efforts for the past 38 years in lifting up the Women’s Sports Foundation and asking us all to step in and help carry the torch forward for future generations.

Chrissie Inaugurates Local College Tennis Center...with last minute adjustments!

Chris Evert arrived as scheduled to speak in heels & sleeveless gown for the inauration of the beautiful Wynee Warden Tennis Center at Florida Southern College.

But when she was asked to give the courts an inaugural hit, the Champ kicked off her heels, grabbed a racket and hitting the first stroke that ended up a 10-shot exchange with the college's tennis coach.

Chrissie Honored at International Tennis Hall of Fame's "Legends Ball" for Career Achievement

The Eugene L. Scott Award honors an individual who embodies Scott's commitment to communicating honestly and critically about the game, and who has had a significant impact on the tennis world.

Billie Jean King presented this special award to Chrissie, and was part of an evening that inducted 3 players ~ Jennifer Capriati, Gustavo Kuerten & Manuel Orantes ~ into the Tennis Hall of Fame.

Chris plays mixed doubles for USTA charity

Chrissie is teaming up with Jim Courier, Mardy Fish, Mary Carillo, and Patrick McEnroe to participate in an unprecedented two-day event benefitting USTA Serves, the national charitable foundation of the USTA, to build the next generation of champions.

On Friday, September 7, Chris will be awarded the Eugene L. Scott Award, in recognition of her years of dedication to tennis, and the positive impact she has made on the sport. The award will be presented by fellow Hall of Famer and past Scott Award recipient, Billie Jean King. this presentation will be in addition to honoring the newest inductees into the International Tennis Hall of Fame: Jennifer Capriati, Gustavo Kuerten, Manuel Orantes, Mike Davies, and Randy Snow.

Chrissie flying to L.A. to support Martina on "Dancing With The Stars"

Chrissie will be in the "Dancing With The Stars" audience on Monday night, March 19, to support Martina Navratilova as she takes on the latest challenge in her amazing life: Dancing in high heels on one of the most popular shows on TV! Says Martina, "I admit I'm more comfortable in tennis shoes than in high heel dance shoes, but I'm progressing!"

MAY 18, 2011- Chrissie surprised Billie Jean King with a secret flight to New York City for the Sports Business Awards ceremony to present Billie Jean with the Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring excellence in sports business. Here they are in the Broadway Ballroom of the NY Marriott Marquis.

Family Circle Cup Doubles Exhibition! Evert, Navratilova, Mac & Martin - April 9 agreed to participate in a mixed doubles exhibition match with Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe and Todd Martin during the Family Circle Cup on Saturday April 9 at 7:30pm.

Tickets for this special "Game, Set, Rock! Tennis Amplified" night of tennis will be available as a stand-alone ticketed session, on sale starting 10am on Feb 8th via!

Chrissie signs up for US Open Qualifier Playoffs to help ESPN's Mike Greenberg live his tennis dream!

For the first time, the mixed-doubles portion of America's grand slam tennis event is open to public qualifiers though a system of regional "playoff" tournaments. So ESPN's Mike Greenberg asked Chrissie to help him make the official draw of the US Open.

"Have you seen me play doubles lately?" Chris laughed, while adding,"I am more than happy to help you fulfill your dream."

Chris & Martina surprised the US Open crowd at the women's final by walking out to do the coin toss at the start of the match.

Chrissie inducted into the Rogers Cup Hall of Fame!

Back when Chris Evert played the warm-up tournament to the US Open, it was called the Canadian Open. Now known as the Rogers Cup, Chris was inducted into the tournament's Hall of Fame as a 4-time winner and 6-time finalist.

At the ceremony, Chris said, "What’s special about this tournament is that my dad won the Canadian Open, so it has always been kind of a family affair ... He had great experiences here, too. Canada has always had some of the best and most knowledgeable crowds, the best stadiums – whether it’s been here in Montreal or Toronto, they are beautiful – and the best hospitality. It’s a very popular tournament for the players."

"Unmatched" Documentary on Evert/Navratilova Rivalry to Premier in September!

Hanah Storm and documentarians Lisa Lax and Nancy Stern Winters have created a monumental documentary for ESPN's '30 for 30' series on the rivalry of Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. The feature will air for the first time onTuesday September 14 at 11 pm on ESPN2.

In the meantime, you can view production stills as well as a lengthy VIDEO PREVIEW at the 30 for 30 "UNMATCHED" website. The feature will be a full hour program.

Chrissie surprised Billie Jean King in April, joining a live-tape broadcast of ESPN's "Homecoming" which is a 'This is your Life' format program for famous athletes.

Host Rick Reilly talked about who picked Riggs in the "Battle of the Sexes" and whether any of them apologized after she won. Then Chris (watching and listening to all of this from the studio) appears on the monitor in Long Beach and says, "I am sorry Billie." Immediately BJK says "I know that voice!"

Maria Sharapova, Tracy Austin, Zina Garrison, Jessica Mendoza, Bud Collins, Lornie Kuhle, Original 9 members Rosie Casals and Val Zigenfuss, were some of the other people in the audience.

The BJK episode airs on ESPN Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 7pm EST. If you miss that, it will re-air on ESPN2 on Friday July 9, 2010 at 7:30pm EST.

Chrissie Hits the Empire State Building: Giving Lessons to Harlem Junior Tennis Program!

Chrissie gave a lesson on top of the Empire State Building to kids from the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program. This was part of her push to help the USTA bring awareness to Tennis Month and support local tennis programs for kids getting into tennis.

Chris Promotes USTA Tennis Month & Honors Tennis Moms!

MAY 13 - Chrissie was in New York on Thursday to promote the USTA’s National Tennis Month as the ‘unofficial start of the outdoor tennis season’ with a focus this year on Tennis Moms and the way they instill a love of the game. You can learn more about it by checking the site at

Chris hit a few balls on Fox&Friends with the miniature 'QuickStart' tennis rackets for kids, spoke about the USTA'S Tennis Month focus on Tennis Moms, and about Martina Navratilova's progress with cancer.

Steve Flink made a surprise suggestion during his awards ceremony in April, stating that the Louis Armstrong Stadium at the US Open should be re-named after Chris, as not only the winningest player in US Open tournament history, but as an American icon.

APRIL 25 - Chrissie went to New York on Friday night to give an award from the Eastern Tennis Hall of Fame to her friend (and a friend to all Chrissie fans!), Steve Flink!

Congratulations to Steve, who deserves many honors for a lifetime of extraordinary work in tennis.

“Beach Bash” Raises Funds for Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital

On Saturday, March 20th, Chrissie served as honorary chair as the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina was transformed into a tropical paradise for the Pediatrix Medical Group Broward Health Foundation Beach Bash presented by Aramark Healthcare. More than 430 guests enjoyed an evening of dinner, dancing and beach-themed entertainment, along with silent and live auctions.

Chris has been hard at work for the past few months on developing a health information website with HOOD(R) 'Simply Smart(R) Milk' that includes podcasts and video segments on topics including pre-match preparation, diet, and rivalries. The 1981 Australian Open final where Martina beats Chris 7-5 in the 3rd set aired in a special broadcast on the Tennis Channel on Monday, January 11 at 7 pm & 10 pm.

The following evening, the 1982 Australian Open final where Chris avenges this loss, beating Martina 6-3 2-6 6-3, aired on the Tennis Channel on Tuesday, January 12 at 7 pm & 10 pm.

Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro Celebrity Tennis Charity weekend raised another $700,000!

Chrissie's star studded 20th anniversary charity tennis classic raised another $700,000 over the weekend, bringing Chris Evert Charities' total to $18.5 million.

The weekend was filled with tennis rallies, outrageous commentaries, fantastic auction packages, and an incredible evening cocktail party and gala. You can read the article at tennis week and join in the fun vicariously.
