The International Tennis Hall of Fame Turns 50 - Chrissie is ever active!


            The 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Hall of Fame will be celebrated during the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships at its National Historic Landmark home in Newport, Rhode Island. 
            See the once-in-a-lifetime "Parade of Hall of Famers" welcoming back tennis greats like Chris Evert, John McEnroe, Rod Laver and more than 40 others who have been inducted since 1954 in a colorful ceremony on Saturday prior to the semi-final tennis matches. The ceremony which will be approximately 90 minutes in length will begin at 12 noon. 
            Each year, the International Tennis Hall of Fame honors the greatest players in the history of the sport by inducting new members. Honorees of the 70s and 80s include legendary Rod Laver, Tony Trabert, Fred Perry, Billie Jean King, Jack Kramer, Stan Smith, Ilie Nastase, and Guillermo Vilas. They have been joined by more recent champions such as Chris Evert, Hana Mandlikova, Martina Navratilova, Jimmy Connors, Mats Wilander and John McEnroe. The 2003 event celebrated former world number one, Boris Becker. 
            The event co-chairs are former President George H.W. Bush and Chris Evert. An array of tennis stars will return to Newport to commemorate this unmatched celebration of the International Tennis Hall of Fame's 50th Anniversary.
