WHAT:
Town Center at Boca Raton is clearing its Center Court for a free and
open-to-the-public "Center Court With Chrissie" event featuring tennis
great
Chris Evert and a mini expo of fun and education to share the excitement of
tennis and the healthful programs that Chris Evert Charities assists. Tennis
fans of all ages are invited to join in the afternoon activities that will
include a meet and greet with Chris Evert, contests, giveaways, face
painting and information on the upcoming Chris Evert/Bank of America Tennis
Classic, December 3-5.
WHO:
Tennis Great Chris Evert, turned pro in 1972 and retired at the 1989 U.S.
Open. Through her celebrated tennis career she was winner of 18 Grand Slam
titles: three Wimbledons, seven French Opens, two Australian Opens and six
U.S. Opens - third best in history. Ranked #1 in the world for seven years,
Evert won at least one Grand Slam singles title for 13 consecutive years
(1974-1986), a record for men's and women's tennis, and reached the finals
or semifinals in 52 of her 56 Grand Slams. She holds 157 singles titles,
winning 1,309 matches in her career. In 1974, she won 55 straight matches
(all surfaces), a record that held up for more than 10 years.
The Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida, beneficiary of the 15th Annual
Chris Evert/Bank of America Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic, is a
public/private partnership committed to investing in community based
programs that serve at-risk children and their families.
Radio personality Jim Edwards of Classy 92.1 FM, will be on-hand to support
Center Court event and Chris Evert Charities.
