As if handing out the winner’s trophy at the Australian Open earlier this year was not enough, Chris was given the honor again – to hand out the winner’s trophy after the final of Roland Garros.

Maria Sharapova was this year’s winner. Chris also provided great insight into the tournament all the way up to the final, with her commentary on ESPN.

Chrissie named “Legend Ambassador” for the WTA Championships in Singaporecer2s14

Chrissie will support the season-long ‘Road to Singapore’ of the 2014 WTA Tour, beginning with the Australian Open all the way through 54 events and 33 countries to the WTA Championships, which will be held in Asia-Pacific for the first time.

Chrissie had the help of an impressive array of tennis friends & celebrities – including Kevin McKidd, Mats Wilander, Gavin Rossdale, Martina Navratilova, Patrick McEnroe, Maeve Quinlan, Rennae Stubbs, David Cook, Jon Lovitz, Pam Shriver & many others – to raise $600k to fight drug abuse and give aid to families dealing wtih affliction in South Florida.

Chrissie’s charity has raised over $21.2 million since it began in 1989.

Next year’s event will be held from Nov 21-23, 2014.

Chris accepted a replica trophy in honor of her years on the United States Fed Cup team during this year’s Fed Cup World Group tournament in Delray Beach, Florida on April 21.

During her career, Chris played Federation Cup 9 years, and helped the USA to win the Fed Cup an astounding 8 times! She competed in 42 Fed Cup ties over-all, and posted a 57-4 winning record in the competition. The eight winning Fed Cup teams she was part of were: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1989.

During the Annual Salute to Women in Sports 2012, Women Sports Foundation founder Billie Jean King honored in absentia former Senator Birch Bayh with the Billie Jean King Contribution Award, thanking him for fighting for the rights of girls and women across the country to have equal access in school not just in sports, but in the classroom so women could become doctors, lawyers, scientists, educators … and achieve their potential in every way possible.

Not passing the moment up, tennis great Chris Evert surprised Billie Jean King onstage, commending her efforts for the past 38 years in lifting up the Women’s Sports Foundation and asking us all to step in and help carry the torch forward for future generations.

Chrissie Inaugurates Local College Tennis Center…with last minute adjustments!barefeet

Chris Evert arrived as scheduled to speak in heels & sleeveless gown for the inauration of the beautiful Wynee Warden Tennis Center at Florida Southern College.

But when she was asked to give the courts an inaugural hit, the Champ kicked off her heels, grabbed a racket and hitting the first stroke that ended up a 10-shot exchange with the college’s tennis coach.

Chrissie was invited back to the White House by President Obama for a 2nd year in a row to promote healthy outdoor activities for kids & their families (Put down those video games!) with the official theme of this year’s event being “Let’s go! Let’s play! Let’s move!”

“It was a real treat playing tennis with President Obama at the The White House. He has a wicked lefty forehand!” Chrissie says.
