WORLD TEAM TENNIS SUMMARY, 1978
Chris joins the Los Angeles Strings for what will become the final season of this earliest version of World Team Tennis. Chris’s teammates include player-coach Ilie Nastase, Ashok and Vijay Amritraj, Stephanie Tolleson, and Ann Kiyomura. The Strings eventually win the league title, defeating Billie Jean King’s New York Apples in the semifinals (Virginia Wade is now a Golden Gater) and Martina Navratilova’s Boston Lobsters in the final. Navratilova sits out part of the playoff series with an injured shoulder, and Chris wins Playoff MVP.
